Work 1:1 with a student with significant health needs.
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) 2 or 4 yr RN.
CPR and first aid certificate required
Computer skills in data entry and data management required
Provides skilled assessment and intervention to ensure patient requiring tracheostomy cares/support maintains a patent airway
Competent with suction machine and cough assist
Competent with frequent suctioning of nares, oral cavity, and tracheostomy tube (open suctioning)
Provides PCA services, all cares, position changes, and transfers for wheelchair dependent patient; transfers will be 2-person assist, competent with gastrostomy tube cares for patient
Competent in tube feedings via gastrostomy tube
Training in working with assistive therapy devices will be provided by the district Physical Therapist
Working Conditions:
Classroom, office, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding

Metro ECSU is hiring full and part-time public health and/or school health support staff to serve as liaisons to and resources for school nursing. Your work on the health supports team will be crucial in creating tools to attract and retain school health staff.
Role and Responsibilities
• Providing consultation, technical assistance, and training to agencies and local school districts on elements identified by the MDH Public Health Workforce grant
• Identifying, developing and/or disseminating information and resources about best practices related to the five principals of school nursing and COVID-19 planning, response and recovery to assure optimal services are provided to address the health, safety, and wellness for children and youth in school and early childhood settings
• Initiating, participating in, and utilizing research to assess and monitor status and behavioral health needs of children and youth
• Collaborate with State COVID-19 School Health Workforce and other community members and organizations to support COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, response and recovery initiatives for school-based health programs
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently both individually and as a team member
• Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and complete work in a timely manner
• Effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills in a variety of settings and situations; demonstrate ability to work positively and professionally with others
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in school health, public health, mental health, or community clinic
• Bachelor’s degree in education, nursing, social work or related field
