    • LSN is responsible for coordinating health care for individual students and the population of students including training, delegation, monitoring and supervision of health care delivered by Health Services Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other school staff. Member of Special Education team providing nursing assessments and educational support services to special needs students.

Licensed School Nurse

  • Job Sites
    • Responsible for one elementary school and will work with the ECSE programs as well as other duties as assigned. The elementary school has a full-time (student contact hours) health assistant.

  • Hours per Day
    • .5 (4-5 days a week)
    • Wednesdays will be 6-8 hours, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday hours will need to be flexible depending on when IEP meetings, assessments, screenings etc are scheduled.

  • Description
    • The LSN:
      • Develops and supervises a system of first aid, illness management, emergency care and health-related policies
      • Assesses, plans and documents student health issues
      • Provides and plans direct services for chronically ill and medically fragile students needing health procedures
      • Plans and provides vision and hearing screening, and follow-up referrals
      • Serves as a resource to staff, students and families re: health concerns and health education
      • Coordinates prevention and control of communicable diseases
      • Serves as a member of the Student Support Team in each school, and completes special ed. health reviews and assessments, attends IEP meetings as needed
      • Provides delegation and training for procedures and medication administration as needed to health care specialists (LPNs) and health assistants.
      • Completes other duties as assigned

    • Minnesota School Nurse License
    • Registered Nurse in Minnesota
    • Current CPR/AED Certification
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills
    • School Nurse experience desired
